In the classroom, I was always able to see what each of my students needed...but no teacher can devote the necessary one-on-one time to every student every day. I started to wonder if there was a better way to help, and working with students one-on-one immediately seemed to be the right path. And just like that, Mindset was born!
Students feel most confident when they have the tools to help themselves succeed. When assignments are piling up and you're 100% positive you're the only one in your class thinking "I don't get it!" school can feel like a nightmare. Trust me, I've been there. Let's maintain a stress-free environment so you can make the connections that will help you to actually enjoy learning.
Whether we're working on addition/subtraction, fractions, word problems, conversions, algebra, etc....communication is key. Verbalize what you find confusing. Pinpoint the exact moment something stops making sense. Naming your obstacle is the first step in breaking through it. I can help you to change your mindset. It just takes patience, practice, and trust.
I've been a classroom teacher and tutor since 2004, when I received my Master's Degree in Education from Texas State University. I'm a professional musician, I love cooking, standup comedy, travel, movies, I have approximately four zillion houseplants, and a cat named Murph. Also, that's not my boat in the picture...I just couldn't pass up the photo op. 📸
